When I first got into design, I didn’t know what was I getting into, I thought it was just drawing and computers but it was so much more. I learned how logos and so on can affect the people around and it takes a lot of thinking and knowledge that comes into design than just drawing a pretty shape. I continued to explore my work into the design and found myself doing all kinds of research for my works and some of them I never thought or would ever look up and thought of it as important till now. I found my way of design through the program.
The way I designed was mostly dedicated to my background knowledge as well as the styles I was most familiar with and I wanted to continue growing and moving forward with that knowledge to advance more on my studies. The reason I want to be in graphic design is that I want to merge cultures into designs. As it has been throughout history where sub-parts of culture get translated into designs of products and advertisements. For me being an Asian American I live through both types of lifestyle and knowing how life differs from one another. My style leans towards an illustrated approach as many of my illustrations go into my product designs as well. Whether we’re a simplistic background element or the main theme of a poster. I am dedicated to seeing through the program to the end no matter how many failures or disasters that will come my way. Which is why I want to be in the graphic design program.
